How to purchase

Loaves made at the Beach Cottage Bakery are currently available weekly at the Friday Hermosa Beach Farmer's Market (map) or through pre-orders placed online every other Tuesday. Please see below for further information.

 

Pre-order

  • Available every other Tuesday. Click through to product page to see available pre-order dates.

  • Available for country loaves only.

  • The deadline for ordering is 2 days before the bake day (Sunday 5pm).

  • Loaves will be available for pick up from the bakery between 3pm and 7pm on your chosen bake day. 

  • Delivery is available if you live within the delivery area.

  • Cancellation notices must be submitted at least 2 days in advance. 

  • An email reminder will be sent to you on the day your bread is ready for pick up.

  • If you choose to pick up your bread the bakery address will be shown when you place your order and in a confirmation email. Loaves are only available to customers who have pre-ordered. The bakery is cottage food operation (i.e. private residence) and there is no store front.  

Farmers Market

A wide range of loaves are available weekly at the Hermosa Beach Farmer's Market (map) every Friday from 12-4pm. Bread often sells out before market closing so to avoid disappointment please try to stop by before 2pm. 

Below is a list of products that are available every week. In addition there will be a number of variety loaves, typically made using a wide range of grains (flours, whole-grains, rolled-grains or sprouted grains), add-ins such as nuts, seeds and dried fruits, and/or seasonal ingredients including vegetables. 

Bread offered every week:

  • Country Loaves

    • The country loaf is a classic sourdough loaf made with a combination of freshly stone-ground whole-wheat, whole-spelt, whole-rye and white wheat flour. The loaves are baked in a stone-lined oven and have a deep rustic crust and a soft creamy crumb.  ​

  • Seeded Rye

    • A sourdough loaf made with 50% freshly milled whole-rye and 50% white wheat. Contains anise, fennel and caraway seeds, orange zest, and some molasses for a rich depth of flavor. Similar to a Swedish style rye bread.

  • Ancient Grain Baguettes​

    • These demi-baguettes (short baguette) are made from wheat flour and freshly milled Einkorn, a wonderful ancient grain that is easier to digest than modern wheat. It is slowly fermented using a sourdough culture (no commercial yeast) and has a crispy golden crust and a soft and chewy interior.​

  • Olive & Preserved Lemon Fougasse​

    • A naturally fermented French flat bread made with wheat and freshly milled spelt, full of Castelvetrano olives, preserved lemons and Herbs de ​Provence, and covered in black and white sesame seeds. Cut into the shape of an ear of wheat, these flat-breads are ideal for tearing and dipping in olive oil.
